Website Dos and Donts
Web Page Design
Watch color scheme of site. Keep things plain and simple.

Make sure web pages loads quickly. The last thing you want is for your website visitors to wait long for web pages to load.

Use small (size kb) images.

Avoid flash intro pages. They load too long and waste time. Your visitors will go to competitors.
- Use Javascript to the minimum, because not every one has got it installed or javascript activated
- Try to use CSS for page layout and navigation structure
- Try not to use any frames when designing website
Use fonts like Verdana, Arial etc. Makes content and text easier to read

Don't use any public website counters that will allow your competitors to see how your site is doing
Website Navigation Structure
- Make sure links are not broken. Broken links for your visitors can be a pain. Check for broken links here www.dead-links.com
Don't use images as navigation links, but rather text link or css.

Keep navigation under 3 levels deep
- Make external links to open in a new window
- Avoid Javascript or flash navigation systems
Website Graphics
Keep image size as small as possible

Don't use BMP file extension, but JPG, GIF or PNG
- Always include alt tags to images eg. alt="pic"
Website Fonts
Avoid fancy fonts, because not everyone might have that font installed on pc. Use Verdana, Arial etc.

Try not to underline text on a page unless it is a hyperlink. Visitors might get confused.
- Don't mix more than 3 fonts on one page
Website Background
- Avoid large background images
- Make sure your background color don't interfere with font and content
- Dont use images in backgrounds of tables
- Dont make content scrollable and background fixed. Not all browsers can do it.
Website Copywriting
- Let third party read your work. Sometimes you miss something
- Use intro, body and ending in content structure
- Make sure there are enough spacing between paragraphs.
Final Web Design Tips
- Update content regularly. Visitors will love it as well as search engines.
- Write content for visitors and not search engines
- Don't mix more than 3 fonts on one page
