 The Role of Website Planning
You will need to have plan in place before starting your
project. To create a website you will need to put on paper the plan
of action you're going to take, to achieve your goal.
In your plan you will work out your budget for e.g.
- Cost for Website hosting
- Cost for Domain Name
- Software
- Labour
- .....
As you can see from the above that it will give you a guideline and
direction. If you don't have a guideline then you might go into
something blindly and not achieve your objectives.
You might opt for the free route e.g. free web hosting, free domain
name... Weigh the pros and the cons of going the free route.
Goal setting also falls under planning. You might write down
short to long term goals that you want to achieve with your
website. Basically you will jot down a timeline for your website.
Choose a topic or theme that you're going to talk about.
Before I started this website I had to sit down and plan what
my objective was with it. I had to ask myself some questions.
- How am I going to share my knowledge?
- What software am I going to use?
- Who is going to host my website?
- Will I employ people to help me?
- Am I going to make the website myself?
- ....
So as you can see I had to plan what I'm going to do, before
I got stuck in the actual designing of the website. It
all started with
a plan or blueprint and I simply just followed trough
with it.
Who said that conceptualizing and planning was a difficult
thing to do. This is all part of the process in creating
a quality website.
